Rain, coffee and grunge music is far too stereotypical a way to sum up the scenic panoramas of the Pacific Northwest. That, and the locals hate those tags.
Instead, think of it as the home to incredible areas of natural beauty. It’s a city with a real focus on locality and craft, and somewhere with a really big Space Needle (whatever one of those is). It’s passionately different from the rest of the US and with a quirky vibe to its other West Coast neighbours.
A visit to Seattle requires that you take in Pike Place Market and see some fish get thrown. But beyond that tourist essential, you can sample the local craft ale scene, take in some spectacular views out across the water, and maybe grab a coffee from a non-global brand.
